The International Visitor Leadership Program
The World Affairs Council of Central Florida (WACCFL) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is one of many councils for international visitors located throughout the United States. These councils help to facilitate the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). The IVLP is administered by the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and works to bring international visitors to the United States to participate in professional exchange with colleagues in their field. The emphasis of the program is to increase mutual understanding through communication at the personal and professional levels. Participants are established or potential foreign leaders in government, politics, news media, education, science, labor relations and other key fields. They are selected by American embassies overseas to visit the United States and experience this country firsthand.
